Happy Mardi Gras!

I finally did it. I was so bored on Saturday that I shaved my head. Those of you that know me, know that it isn't THAT much different than what I had before. I"m still not sure if I'm gonna keep it like this. I like the look, but I'm not sure if I'm cool with shaving it twice or 3 times a week. We shall see.

Today is Fat Tuesday...or Mardi Gras, whatever you want to call it. I took the opportunity to wear my light up Jagermeister beads to work. They were well received. I did enjoy explaining the concept of Mardi Gras beads to my Indian buddy. His response "Beads are just further proof that men are pigs no matter where you go." I tend to agree. We then discussed the Indian version which is called "gatari amavasya". The holiday, if you want to call it that is essentially the same thing. Gatari amavasya is the last day that Indian folks drink alcohol and eat meat before the three month rainy season begins. The logic behind it is less religious and more practical as most of the animals in India eat off the ground, and when the ground is muddy the animals injest more of the bad stuff that gets caught in the mud. Their holiday always falls on a new moon. It was a very enlightening conversation. I see it as further proof that people are more similar than we realize, no matter where we are from.

Happy Fat Tuesday to all, until tomorrow.
