A fun couple of days

I'm 2/3 of my way through my college hockey weekend. Thursday night we watched Miami of Ohio beat Bemidji State and Boston U. beat Vermont. The Boston/Vermont game was the more entertaining of the evening, I think the loud group of BU students that were 2 sections over from us helped. They were NUTS. I cant wait to hear them chanting again. Check out the article yesterday on the on frozen blog site for more details on that.

Last night I went to the skills challenge with some friends, the attached videos are from that. We also got to see the presentation of the Hobie Baker award. The Baker is college hockey's equivalent of the Heisman trophy. Matt Gilroy from Boston U is the winner, and I got his autograph! SCORE!

Today is the championship game, I can't wait. I'm on hockey overload this weekend, but its been great. Enjoy the videos!

Hockey Day in DC

Today is the beginning of the NCAA's final four of Men's Ice Hockey, known as the "Frozen Four". Its the first time this event has been in our area. I was lucky enough to have my name pulled out of the hat by the NCAA and got tickets to both semi-final games today as well as the finals on Saturday. I've never seen a college hockey game before, so I'm looking forward to the new experience. Tonight's game are on ESPN2 at 5:30 and 8 if you are interested. I'm seeing this as one of those experiences I can check off my "hockey player to do list". I've been pretty lucky as a player over the last 4 years and done some really cool stuff, (i.e. playing pond hockey, assisting on an overtime game winner in the playoffs, scoring a goal in front of my parents), but this will certainly be a highlight for me. We will also have the opportunity to hang out with a bunch of our hockey friends(as it seems they all got tickets as well). It should be a memorable weekend. By the way, I'm pulling for Miami of Ohio. They were a low seed, and they wear red. GO HAWKS!

I love XM

I heard this quote over the weekend on my XM, it was some random sportscaster complaining about one of the dance teams at the NCAA Tournament. " I can't poop on an airplane, I can't ride a horse, I can't wear a tank top, so fat girls can't be on the dance team." Too funny!

I'm happy for the Orioles, taking down the Yankees on opening day. I ended up watching the game with buddies at "Dock of the Bay" in Sparrows Point. It was a good night.

The countdown to the Frozen Four is on, I cant wait for Thursday! Now all I need to do is pick a team. Miami of Ohio wears red(my favorite color) so it may be easier than I think.
